Once your Customer Service Representative enters your order, the disk is then
sent to the Desktop Department. When the disk arrives in the Desktop Department,
it is evaluated to make sure there are no problems - i.e. all fonts enclosed,
no images missing, job fits to template, etc. At this point either a laser print
or a color Fuji First Proof will be output. (A Fuji First Proof will proof on
the printing stock you desire, with some exceptions. With this ability you will
see color very accurate to the finished product on the first proof.) The proof
is then sent for approval. If revisions are required, the Desktop Department
will apply and a revised laser of Fuji First. Proof will be sent out for approval.
Upon receipt of final approval, film will be imaged with our Fuji FD-3100 Imagesetter,
which is capable of imaging film sizes up to 30" x 40" at incredible
speeds and accuracy at high resolutions to enhance clarity and detail. Trapping
is automatic with process colors plus up to 10 spot colors. If your designer
happens to forget this important task, it's no problem. After the film has been
imaged, it is sent to our Proofing Department.
The Fuji Color Art Proof is then created from the final film that your product
will be printed from. This will represent the final look of your product on
paper. Again, like the Fuji First Proof, we will proof on the same paper you
order, with some exceptions.
Upon receipt of final approval to print, films are sent to the Plating Department
for stripping to a carrier (clearbase) that matches the appropriate template
and cutting die for the product. Our strippers have to manually register each
color to the other for accurate register on the press.
The stripped film is then sent to programming to be layed out in the exact position
so as to fit the die for cutting of the product after printing.
After this step, plates are produced on our Cortron step and repeat system.
The Cortron is a very precise piece of equipment accurate within plus or minus
two ten thousandths of an inch and at high speeds. The plates are made of anodized
aluminum with a light-sensitive photopolymer coating.
